At Compassion we know that joy is not dependent on circumstances. Evidence of this unconditional joy is seen in the smiling faces of children around the world who are being released from poverty through Compassion's ministry.
Poverty is much more than a lack of money or material possessions — at its core, poverty is a lack of options. It is a mindset of utter hopelessness that overwhelms its victims with difficult circumstances and tells them to give up. Those suffering from poverty can teach us what true joy really is … and how one can find this joy in the most unlikely of places.
